Rummy 500 is probably the game that requires the highest level of concentration. This fascinating Rummy game is very simple to learn but a little harder to master. Here’s how to play it:
- Rummy 500 is a 2 - 4 players game.
- Played with one full deck including jokers.
- Each player is dealt 7 cards.
- Unlike the rest of the online Rummy games, in Rummy 500 the goal is to reach or exceed the predetermined target scores (Single Tourney) or to have the highest score at the end of the game (Ring Game).
- If there is more than one player that reaches the target score (+200 in single tourney), the player with the highest number is the winner of the round/game.
- On each turn players must make two moves - drawing and discarding. In between they can obviously meld or build. They can meld and build whenever they want and there is no minimum required or a first meld requirement if they want to just build (add cards to melds). Cards are drawn from the main stock pile or from the discard pile. If a play withdraws from the stock pile then they take only the top card, however, if a player wishes to draw a card from the discard pile there are two options, and this is where it gets tricky
- 1 - A player can draw the last discarded card and can use it whenever they wish afterwards.
- 2 - A player can take any card from the discard pile but is then obliged to pickup all the cards that were discarded it also. More than that, the player then has to use the picked-up card in a meld straight after.
- Each card point value is basically equal to the number on it with, to exclude the Royal cards (10 points), Ace (1/11 points, depends on where it’s used, 15 penalty points) and the Joker’s value is equal to the cards it represents (15 points penalty).
- Rummy 500 can have lots of rounds. Each round ends when one of two things happens; a player gets rids of all of the cards in their hand, or the stock pile runs out cards.
- Once the round ends, each player's cards are evaluated and added to the score from the previous rounds. When a player reaches or exceeds the target score, then they are the winners.
